Great Adventure: Ready Or Not

On one of our many adventures in the great outdoors last summer Matt and I decided that the world would like to know what we think about marriage, theology, families, christian living, and a plethora of other topics.
Ok, so we don't really know if anyone will notice or care that we started a blog, nonetheless, it will be a way for us to record our journey through this life and a way to stay in touch with family and friends, should they have time to read our ramblings.
Our bedroom a few weeks ago!
Not that it's any better today!

Anyways....here we are 6-7 months later just getting started:)  Just think of what you have missed out on!  I'll try to catch you up to speed in this, and future, posts.
It might be close to true that those last 6-7 months were some of the most trying of our short married life thus far.  But God is gracious and faithful.  As I am writing this I am surrounded by boxes and lists of cleaning that must be packed/done in the next week.
We are about to do one of the most challenging things either of us has ever done, in our minds at least.  We are on a great adventure to move to Wake Forest (5 hrs from where Matt has called "home" his entire life & where I have called "home" the past 5 1/2 yrs).  What are we doing that for you ask?
Our Office (aka "The Spare Oom")
Well, Matt will be attending Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS/Southeastern).  I will be taking a women's course on Tuesday evenings.  We will attend a new church, get established in a new community, and we are both praying for jobs! I wish we had a picture of every person's facial expression when we tell them we are moving and do not yet have jobs.  Priceless for sure!  We might be a little bit crazy, we feel that way ourselves at times, but when one of us is doubting/worried/anxious, the other comes alongside and provides a much needed reminder of the faithfulness, sovereignty, and provision of our God!
Suffice it to say, we are clinging to verses like Ps. 139:5, 16 and Is. 55:8-9.  Our Father goes before us, and behind us, He has planned and numbered all of our days, and His thoughts are not like our thoughts and His ways are not like our ways, they are MUCH higher and MUCH better!
So as we go, we go in faith, trusting the Lord to work out the details, believing in Him for the "unseen" things of this journey.

Here are some Scriptures that we have clung to the latter half of 2011 and we will continue to hold fast to them and many others in 2012.

Job 23:10, "But He knows the way that I take; when He has tried me, I shall come out as gold."

Psalm 16:5, 11 "The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; You hold my lot.  You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Lauren, for the Bishops

P.S. Matt had to work Christmas week-end and New Years week-end, but hopefully once we get settled in Wake Forest we will have time to reflect on 2011 and I'll share some of our great joys and trying circumstances of the year!  Then, you'll know everything you missed out on!
